By the very nature of physically handling cards, we cannot absolutely 100% guarantee that some wear will not occur (especially if you try sorting cards covered in sand, for instance. We've had some issue with foil detection in the past, and it's always a work in progress, but our team is always working on improving this feature.
With the Remove Duplicates feature, you decide the maximum number of copies to keep. No more customer frustration when they find the same card 20 times in their bulk box.
The input hopper and output bins are always accessible, even when a sort is in progress, so you can load and unload cards without ever needing to wait for a sorting session to end.
Our input hopper has a total capacity of 1,750 cards; bin 1 has a capacity of 120 cards, and bins 2 to 13 have a capacity of 500 cards each, meaning your PhyzBatch can hold a total of 6,120 cards before unloading.
Just load up the hopper and walk away! The sort will pause automatically if one of the bins has reached capacity or stop completely once the last card has been been processed.
The current record for longest sort is 90,000. You’re welcome to try and beat it!

Some of the sorting preset options include "Harvest Mode" (sorting by cost), Rarity, Set, Name, Alphabetical, and Card Orientation (face-up, face-down, North, South). But, you can create your own sorting criteria based on a ton of other criteria: alphabetical, colour, type, foil, release date... pretty much anything you can think of.
An average, only about one card out of 1,000 is identified under the wrong name. If it is, our Quick Correct module makes it easy and efficient to go through cards for potential misidentifications.

All new machine plans include a 1-year warranty, & customers in-warranty are eligible for upgrade parts at a reduced rate, as well as full machine refreshes at a significant discount for folks who want to upgrade to the 'latest & greatest' PhyzBatch, since we're always improving it.
TCG Machines will cover the cost of any basic consumable parts that experience wear & tear over normal use of the machine over time (e.g. feed wheels, glass panes, etc.). That being said, the customer will be responsible for shipping costs.
Each time we hit a stumbling block, they stopped the billing, sent us some new parts, and worked with us to get the machine up & going again.

That is a very lengthy question to answer succinctly, so let’s tackle it as two more specific questions.
1. What metrics can cards be separated by?
The PhyzBatch has many sorting options including price, type, foiling, color, alphabetical, card number, resource cost, facing direction (north/south) and set. These criteria may be assigned to any bin, in any combination. Want to pull out every card worth more than $1? We can do that. Want to have a bin for all grass-type, VMax Pokemon worth less than $5.25, having "bee" somewhere in their name, more than 300hp and with no duplicates? That's oddly specific, but we can do that too!
The PhyzBatch can also combine criteria and card counts to make custom decks, and mystery boxes with specific requirements. For example, a pack of 50 cards with 30 commons, 25 uncommons, 5 rares, with one card worth $2 or more, and no more than one duplicate of any card. If you want to get even more precise, you can make lists of specific cards (for example, daily orders) and use them as bin criteria.
2. There are only 13 bins, so how does it sort cards into sets if I have a collection spanning 100+ sets?
This type of sorting gets done in batches (hence, the "PhyzBatch" physically batch-sorting cards). We have a "Discover by Set: Coarse" sorting method, whereby you put your cards from all different sets through the machine and the first 11 unique sets encountered get dropped into bin one, the next 11 unique sets go to bin two, etc.
Next, you take your output stacks (which are now composed of cards from only 11 different sets) and you run them through a "Discover by Set" sort, which separates them into their constituent sets. In this way, you can go from 121 different sets down to stacks of single sets in only 2 full passes. You can also do this method by card name to sort out 121 individual cards.
From there, you can alphabetize them, color sort, collector ID sort, or any other type of sort to get things into the order you desire.
We currently support Magic: The Gathering, Lorcana, Pokémon, One Piece, and Riftbound cards. We have had many requests to sort Yu-Gi-Oh, and while we do plan to support it in the future, the smaller card size creates significant physical challenges which will take time to address.
Though a significant undertaking, we do plan to offer support for sports cards eventually.
From a sample of Magic: The Gathering, for a totally random group of cards covering the full-range of Magic (all the way back to 1993), the machine may miss 1 out of 100, so 99% accuracy, but there are a couple of caveats to note:
1. For cards that are reprinted in multiple sets using the same artwork, and where the set symbols are very similar (the Core sets, for example), it is possible the set will be misattributed. This also applies to other cards which are very similar, for example, serialized cards have the same art, title, set icon, id and set code as their non-serialized versions. We are always improving our set recognition algorithms, and eventually we should be able to eliminate set misattribution entirely.
2. Bright foiling on cards can create a rainbow effect. This means the ID rate for foil cards is slightly lower than non-foil cards.
No, only unsleeved cards will consistently make it through the throat of the machine. Sleeved cards have too much thickness variation, so it's impossible to accommodate them all (at least with the current design of our machine). That said, the PhyzBatch-9000 is at its best when sorting through bulk, which will typically be unsleeved.
Yes! Initially we had some trouble with these, but we are incorporating electro-polished stainless steel slide bars which let the "Pringle" foils ride smoothly through the conveyor.
Currently, we're shipping to Canada, the United States (mainland, Alaska and Hawaii), the UK, the EU, and Australia. The PhyzBatch will continue to expand to new regions as we're able. We are currently pursing certification on applicable international electrical and safety standards, and international taxation laws are messy. Gotta keep this thing legal!
At this time there is no “personal version” of our machine. The economics of a personal-sorter are very, very difficult. Firstly, the machine itself would need to be made at a price point that was acceptable to a personal collector, call it $1,000 (even this is not tenable for a lot of people, but do read on). Now, we need to somehow make the machine for that amount of money, without sacrificing safe card handling, recognition accuracy, compliance with safety standards, etc., AND somehow still make a profit? It's an enormous gamble to commit to producing such a large number of machines (as would be necessary to accommodate the personal market, and also to be profitable), and it's then incumbent upon us to support them. To reiterate, it's not impossible, but it requires that we have deep pockets, a large staff, and a large production facility. These all take time to build toward. Keep bugging us though, and we will keep it on our radar :)
For the interim, we need to pursue a market that can sustain and grow our company, and that is the business-to-business market. Our hope is that your local game store can acquire a PhyzBatch-9000 and they can sort your collection for you as a service. Support your LGS!
No, at least not for the foreseeable future. That's a whole can of worms that is very difficult to address (even for humans). There may be certain characteristics we can pick up on and look for, but we would never try and tell you that this is something we can definitively and consistently address.
We have three layers of redundancy built in to make sure a "table saw" scenario doesn't happen:
1. The conveyor motor is speed-monitored, so if its RPM drops below a specified range, there is an immediate shutdown of the machine (and the software will properly pause your current sorting session).
2. There are sensors going into and coming out of the camera bay, so if a card goes in, but does not come out, the machine will stop.
3. We have a computer vision routine built in to look for anything unexpected in the camera bay, such as multiple cards, or anything not strictly "card shaped".
There are two reasons why we landed on the number 13. First, this was the maximum number of bins that kept our conveyor motor within its peak operating range. The second reason was to keep the profile of our machine within practical shipping dimensions. Our machine is pushing the boundaries of "standard " shipping tolerances, and we would really rather not exceed these.
